NEWCOMER Matt Sayle leads the way in Weaver Valley Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial series, for the Guardian Cup, after the season’s first two races.
He improved on his time in the campaign opener by 55 seconds to collect maximum points.
Nigel Woods is next in the standings after shaving 47 seconds off his previous time, followed by Steve Marlow and Stuart Ward in third.
Dave Fearon has been fastest rider so far, timing 23:24.
In Tuesday’s Macclesfield Wheelers’ Evening Road Race, Alan Kemp and Kevan Underhill represented Weaver Valley.
A break of four riders established a convincing lead in the early stages, with Stephen Wilkinson (Team Wheelguru) crossing the line first.
Underhill rode away from the bunch on the final lap of a course that started at Siddington, classifying fifth in his age group.
Kemp won a sprint, ahead of Graham Weigh, to take the honours in his category.
