WILDEN Cornwall made the difference for Weaverham as they ended a four-match losing run in the Cheshire County League by beating Urmston.

He was the leading scorer with 52 in the Russets’ tally of 185 at Wallerscote Road, where Kevin Waterhouse (37) and Rob MacMillan (35no) made their mark too.

Matthew Parkinson took five wickets.

Cornwall then claimed a superb 6-34, supported by Kevin Douglas (2-36), as the visitors were dismissed for 145 after tea.

Promotion hopefuls Oulton Park played out a draw with third-placed Didsbury, also in Division One.

The hosts totalled 233-9 after winning the toss, half-centuries from Nick Anderson (72) and Matthew Marfani (55) providing the highlights.

Iro de Silva took 4-69, while Guy Emmett and Andy Hards claimed two wickets each.

As Oulton Park’s last-wicket pair, they survived the final dozen overs to claim a share of the spoils at 170-9 with Emmett unbeaten on 42.

Earlier, De Silva struck 82.

Davenham made it back-to-back wins after beating fellow strugglers Middlewich, who are now adrift at the bottom of the table.

Openers Mark Greaves (22) and Tim Niemand (72) shared in a 62-run partnership for the visitors after they had won the toss, although their total of 163 might have been higher had the final six wickets not fallen for 32.

Stephen Bliss (5-51) was the home team’s outstanding bowler.

Middlewich reached 50 without loss in reply, but once Leandro du Toit (41) was trapped LBW by slow bowler Danny Hancock (5-53) their innings collapsed quickly to 113 all out.

Niemand, from South Africa, completed a fine afternoon’s work with 4-30.

In Division Two, Northwich could not prevent unbeaten Warrington from reaching first place in the table following a high-scoring encounter at Moss Farm.

The visitors, chasing 227 to win, celebrated a two-wicket win with seven balls to spare.

Mark Walker’s men had posted 226-9, with Chamindu Ishanka (66) – promoted to the top of the order – and Sam Shepherd (78) scoring half-centuries.

Glinoj Cherian (31) contributed, while Brad McIntosh returned figures of 6-80.

In reply, James Hughes (50) and Will Fleetwood (46) played the defining parts for Warrington despite the best efforts of Shepherd (4-56 off 15 overs).
