HARTFORD Tennis Club’s teams have picked up vital wins in the South and Mid Cheshire League over the past week.
The men’s E quartet won 6-2 at home to Alsager B, avenging a narrow defeat against the same opponents when they first met in May.
They were due at neighbours – and fellow strugglers – Cuddington B last night, Tuesday, their target was to put further distance between themselves and the drop zone in Division Two.
In the same section, Hartford D occupy the second promotion place.
Hartford A won 8-0 against Alsager A, and remain level on points with champions Congleton A in Division One.
However the men from Chester Road have a better sets difference.
A winning sequence for Hartford G extends to 10 matches in Division Five following a whitewash of Congleton E last Tuesday.
Andy White and Dave Stone are proving to be a steady and reliable coupling, helping their team to a positive sets difference of 68.
In the ladies’ top-flight, Hartford A completed a double over Holmes Chapel A with Kate Burrows and Di Fielding winning 3½ sets.
It’s a result that leaves them a comfortable third in the table.
Hartford B and C lead the way in Division Two after the latter recorded a 5½-2½ success away at Audlem.
Pauline Cordingly and Sue Nugent played strongly to secure three sets from four, while Lillie Prior and Mandy Hemmings battled to win the rest.
Hartford D won 6½-1½ at Nantwich C, owing thanks to Linda Prior after stepped with regular players covering absences elsewhere.
