HUNDREDS of schoolchildren can get active for free as part of a new initiative launched by Witton Albion today, Monday.
As part of its growing community programme, the club plans to run a multi-sport camp for kids during the holidays at the end of October.
And boys and girls, aged between five and 12, can take part for a day without paying if they present one of 2,500 golden tickets.
“It’s early days for Witton Albion In the Community, but I hope this signals to everybody that we’re here and can make a difference,” said project manager Alex Titchiner, who will hand out the passes to children via their teachers.
The first camp, which will run from Monday, October 26, includes a variety of multi-sport and physical activities that will focus on improving skills.
Titchiner, a player at the Northwich club, and his teammates will join Simon Robinson – a teacher at Leftwich Community Primary School – to deliver the programme.
He added: “We want the camps to be lots of fun, and to promote a healthy lifestyle to the children.”
Each daily session starts at 10am, finishing at 3pm.
