IT has been a season to remember for Barnton AFC’s under 12s team.

Indeed, they have marked their first season in competitive football by scooping their league title.

A stellar campaign saw them secure the Mid-Cheshire League Division Two crown on Saturday, regaining focus after a small wobble after Christmas to claim the trophy.

Their first two games back in the new year resulted in a draw and a loss, but an incredible run has seen all but one of their games since then end in victory.

The majority of the team, who have been playing together since the age of four, attend Hartford High School, with students from Weaverham High School and Comberbach Primary School also included in the victorious group.

Alex Quilty, who manages the team alongside Colin Birtles, has expressed his pride in how the team have conducted themselves both on and off the field throughout the campaign.

“Me, Colin and the parents are incredibly proud of the boys achievement this year,” he said.

“They battled really hard against some tough competition.

“Throughout the season, they were complimented by opposition coaches and parents about how well they play their football and their behaviour is exemplary.”
